Of course, I think the Gold Option should be there for people who just want to buy skills. I'm always for more choices and options!

Doing the quests got me skill points and gold, which I then spent on the skills in the order I wanted, instead of getting random crap (For my character design) that I had no intention of using any time soon. Then I went back and got the rest when I felt like it. Huge improvement in my opinion.

I got skills faster than in Prophecies, not slower. And I got the ones I wanted first, instead of piles of fire skills on my Geomancer who didn't get a basic attack spell until halfway through the game.
